It’s been one week since the inaugural Solstice Stroll here at Saybrook Home, and I think it’s safe to say that we’ve finally recovered! Since we approached Erica Tannen and her eList team a couple months ago with the idea of hosting a ladies night out, we weren’t sure exactly how the event would be received. Would we get a good turnout, or would we looking at a one and done event? Despite our trepidation, the longest day of the year has come and gone with resounding success. Here’s what we learned from our experience here at the top of Main Street.
First, never underestimate Erica from the eList and her followers. They are loyal. They are punctual. And they are a darn good time! Guests began arriving around quarter of 5 for the event - which was pretty smart considering the parking lot filled quickly. Check-in was in Aspen as Erica greeted each attendee with special eList stickers so they could take advantage of the sales at all the participating Main Street shops. If you’re not on Erica’s email list, sign up here. Trust me, these gals know how to host a gathering. We had over 250 guests check in at Aspen in just two and a half hours!
The second bit of wisdom we gleaned from the evening - nothing pairs better with shopping than charcuterie platters from Fromage. How much cheese is too much? We’re not sure, because our guests enjoyed the spread so thoroughly, nothing was left to waste! The team over at Fromage Fine Foods and Coffees are beyond talented at creating culinary works of art. We were proud to be able to offer our guests such a fantastic spread that evening. Shout out to Fromage! Check them out here.
And, finally, our final take away from the Solstice Stroll was our overwhelming gratitude to be a part of such an amazing community of small businesses here in Old Saybrook. Thank you to all the participating shops and restaurants that helped to make the evening successful and fun for all who joined in. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
