Perched on the slopes of Okemo Mountain Resort in Vermont, a new kind of mountain retreat is taking shape—one that pairs the raw beauty of nature with timeless comfort and modern elegance. Saybrook Home is proud to have collaborated with South Face Village (southfacevillage.com) on the interior design of several stunning mountainside chalets, bringing our signature design sensibility to a whole new elevation.
These chalets reflect a shared vision: homes that feel warm, lived-in, and luxurious, even when tucked away in the heart of ski country. From performance fabrics to handcrafted details, every design decision was made with the mountain lifestyle in mind.
An Heirloom Centerpiece: The Custom Wood and Resin Dining Table
Among the standout features of these residences is a truly special dining table—custom-crafted by artisans in Central Pennsylvania. Each table begins its journey with our design team hand-selecting elm trees in collaboration with our trusted maker partners. The slabs are carefully dried over two years, then split and shaped to preserve their natural live edge. Joined by a smooth resin river and mounted on a solid base, the result is a one-of-a-kind statement piece that celebrates the raw beauty of natural materials with an artful twist.
This table isn't just a surface for dining—it’s a conversation starter, a place where meals become memories, and a true reflection of craftsmanship and care.
Performance You Can Feel
Mountain living calls for materials that can keep up with the pace of outdoor adventure. But for us, durability is only half the story. That’s why we sourced performance fabrics that are not only hard-wearing but also irresistibly soft to the touch. After a long day on the slopes, there's no better feeling than sinking into a plush sectional or curling up in a cozy armchair wrapped in textural, welcoming fabric.
Comfort was never compromised in our material selections—and neither was style. The end result is interiors that feel sophisticated, tactile, and above all, livable.
Vacation Living That Feels Like Coming Home
Though these chalets are primarily vacation homes, the goal was always to design spaces that feel personal, familiar and genuinely homey. We leaned into our best-selling, most beloved furniture frames—pieces that have stood the test of time in both comfort and quality. Layered lighting, rich wood tones and thoughtful accessories help ground each space, creating rooms that look as good as they feel.
In every detail, from furniture to finishes, the chalets reflect our belief that a home—even one nestled on a mountainside—should be as welcoming and restorative as it is beautiful.
We’re honored to have brought our Saybrook Home perspective to this unique project, and we invite you to explore the entire design for yourself here.
