Saybrook Home Apparel Selected as New Lilly Pulitzer Retailer

Saybrook Home, recently was selected as a new Lilly Pulitzer retailer, in Old Saybrook, CT. This designation and affiliation are highly sought after, with hundreds of applications pouring into the Lilly Pulitzer home office in request to carry their famed line of clothing, shoes and accessories. The store has recently re-set the apparel shop to make room for over 75 new Lilly Pulitzer fashion pieces.

To launch the new affiliation, Saybrook Home sponsored an event to kick off the first shipment of the spring-forward, colorful and iconic brand. Over 30 people attended the event to see the latest fashions by Lilly Pulitzer.

“We are incredibly honored to have been selected to carry Lilly Pulitzer. Out of the hundreds of applications they receive each year they only choose ten stores to carry their product. We feel as though Lilly is going to be an incredible compliment to our already great Apparel Shop, and that it will appeal to people of all ages,” said Keith A. Bolles, Vice President of Operations at Saybrook Home.

“My clients have been begging for us to have the capability of working with the exclusive brand of Lilly Pulitzer. The brightly patterned, coastal and tropical inspired patterns are a great fit for clients on the shoreline of Connecticut, and we are thrilled to offer yet another iconic brand to our apparel offerings,” says Donna Urso, Manager of the Saybrook Home Apparel Shop.

ABOUT LILLY PULITZER
Lilly Pulitzer speaks to generations of rule-breaking, sun-followers who celebrate the spontaneous bohemian spirit of Lilly Pulitzer. The company’s effortless fashions are truly born from an original. It all happened by accident, when in 1959-ish Lully (McKim) Pulitzer – a stylish Palm Beach hostess and socialite whose husband Peter Pulitzer owned several Florida citrus groves – needed a project of her own. With Peter’s produce, she opened a juice stand on Via Mizner, just off Worth Avenue in Palm Beach. Lilly Pulitzer’s business was a hit, but squeezing oranges, lemons, limes, and pink grapefruit made a mess of her clothes. Realizing that she needed a juice stand uniform, Lully asked her dressmaker to design a dress that would camouflage the stains. The result? A comfortable sleeveless shift dress made of bright, colorful printed cotton in pink, green, yellow, and orange. Although her customers liked Lilly’s juice, they loved her shift dresses. Soon Lilly was selling more shift dresses than juice, so she decided to stop squeezing and focus on designing and selling her “Lilly’s”. Lilly Pulitzer became a fashion sensation and a creator of authentic American resort wear as we know it. The brand is now more popular than ever and continues to create authentic printed styles straight from the in-house print design studio.
