A Fresh Start: Refreshing your space for family and friends to gather

Spring usually brings us a breath of fresh air. The chilly mornings and warm sun during the day inspire new excitement for the summer months ahead. After the spring we endured last year, don’t we owe it to ourselves to have a truly enjoyable springtime this year?

Before I get too caught up, let me introduce myself; I’m Monica. I’m lucky enough to have just joined the Saybrook Home family as the Marketing Coordinator. I grew up along the CT shoreline and am thrilled to be back in the area. You’ll be hearing from me as I get to know this team and the truly unique experience that Saybrook Home provides.

We can all let out a collective sigh of relief, that we’ve finally turned a corner and can begin again on the things we missed out on last year. From birthdays, Easter celebrations, graduations, and family barbecues for Memorial Day and Fourth of July, we can start to gather again. After the long year we’ve had, you deserve a new little something – or a big something – to freshen up your space and help you host your upcoming gatherings.

After all those missed times last year, we can feel the newly inspired hope in the air for the potential of this summer to be family-filled and fun-packed. Our Home Shop at Saybrook Home is buzzing with this lively energy.

Upcoming Gatherings

With Father’s Day coming up and summer vacation time quickly approaching, I hope you find yourself planning what meals you’ll prep and what food platters you’ll create for your friends and family on these special days. Having had just spent the last week with the lovely ladies that run our Home Shop, I’m sure you’ll find the perfect something to make these days feel a little brighter and a little more special.

Every get-together for my family, includes the infamous punch bowl. You know, the one that my grandmother made her famous fruit punch in, the one my mother now uses, the one I’m sure my sister and I will argue over keeping in the future. Every family has at least one of these things, what’s your family’s something? In our Home Shop, the magic of family traditions, and that one special thing for everyone, exists. Walking through, I can see the something that a family will use at every holiday, birthday party, or Sunday dinner. Let me show you some of my favorites.

Similar to my grandmother’s punch bowl, this pitcher seems to be a new take on that. Can’t you just see it sitting in the middle of your table? Or it being passed around the picnic table of your backyard barbecue, because everyone has to have a glass Aunt Mary’s iced tea concoction?

When the kids see it, they’ll know family is coming over. Or just leave it on your counter year-round filled with lemon water for people to help themselves.

How about this set of fun glasses? Available in juice glasses for the kids and wine glasses for the adults. The fish detailing is perfect for this area, as you watch the boats at the Surf Club or at the Clinton Beach at the end of the day.

They are just the right touch for summer get-togethers, as you all challenge each other: Who can find the single fish facing the opposite direction from the rest of the bunch?

Another piece – definitely one to spark conversation – that you can set up on the counter for gatherings or in the midst of your decor around the table, is this beautiful stone drink dispenser.

This spring also means the return of spending time with friends. For a nice dinner together or a simple wine night in, just put the bottle your friend brings over in this dispenser and it’ll be ready to be served to everyone.

With different sizes and colorings, you can find the perfect stone to match your space. With an outdoorsy feel for the summer, but a rustic sense to carry through the fall holidays, this piece works for all get-togethers.

Quick Pick Ups

While our Home Shop is the treasure chest for these amazing finds, I would regret not to mention the simple pick ups it provides as well. Disposable napkins from Caspari and Vietri require no extra planning or stress – just the simple pleasure of an extremely soft and quality napkin, while still adding color to your kitchen counter or dining table for any gathering.

Prefer cloth napkins? While they are a bit more of a commitment, they still don’t need to cause you any stress. We do all the thinking for you. Just simply walk through the various displays of plate settings to find your colors and your style. Or even feel free to bring in a picture of your table and the ladies of our Home Shop will curate a combination for your table specifically.

A fresh and coordinated style to place settings is an easy and fun way to dress up any table in preparation for your family and friends.

A Space for You to Enjoy

This marks the beginning of the Saybrook Home Blog – a place for you to come to find relatable content, mixed with announcements of new arrivals to the store, special sales, and more. We didn’t even get to all the customizable pieces available in our Home Shop, but we’ll save that for another blog! I look forward to taking you on this journey, to experience Saybrook Home on a deeper level.

This is a space for you to enjoy, so please feel free to reach out to me to share the things that you want to hear about most.

On behalf of all of us… ’til next time!
